Little Is Much When God Is In It!

by Kittie L. Suffield

"In the harvest field now ripened
There’s a work for all to do;
Hark! the voice of God is calling
To the harvest calling you.

Refrain:
Little is much when God is in it!
Labor not for wealth or fame.
There’s a crown—and you can win it,
If you go in Jesus’ Name.

In the mad rush of the broad way,
In the hurry and the strife,
Tell of Jesus’ love and mercy,
Give to them the Word of Life.

Does the place you’re called to labor
Seem too small and little known?
It is great if God is in it,
And He’ll not forget His own.

Are you laid aside from service,
Body worn from toil and care?
You can still be in the battle,
In the sacred place of prayer.

When the conflict here is ended
And our race on earth is run,
He will say, if we are faithful,
“Welcome home, My child—well done!”

As I was contemplating what I wanted to accomplish with this blog and the direction I wanted to take in sharing from my heart the things God is teaching me in my walk with Him, this hymn kept floating through my mind.  I immediately searched for the words to this song and was humbled by the message almost instantly.  My labors here on earth are so small and trite in light of eternity and yet God chooses to have a relationship with ME! God cares about ME! God loves ME! God uses ME to bring glory to HIM!

I would never want to bring shame to my Savior and I certainly would never claim to know everything or even pretend to think I come close to being just like Christ!  I know I fail constantly in my walk with God, and I know I have a long way to go! However, I am reminded of Philippians 1:6 that says, " Being confident of this very thing, that he which began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"

A sweet, godly Christian lady, whom I love dearly in the Lord, was recently presented some seemingly terrible news that could have made her angry and seek revenge.  Instead of getting angry or becoming depressed she wisely responded, "I've been walking with God too long to stop walking with Him now." This lady has not been able to do much physically for the Lord, but like the song, she has been "in the sacred place of prayer" and continued to be faithful studying the Bible.  I may not understand all that God is doing and trying to accomplish in my life right now, nor may I even begin to comprehend the outcome, but I do know that "as for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.  For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect." Psalm 18:30-33

As I continue my journey with the Lord, I know God will continue to guide my footsteps and lead me in a path that is pleasing to Him until my race here on earth is done!
